Stephen Colbert has sharply criticized an unexpected individual for their failure to address a Donald Trump-related issue in a timely manner.
On Wednesday, Late Show host Stephen Colbert remarked that in the eight days following the election, Donald Trump has exceeded his expectations by being “significantly worse.”
Colbert highlighted that earlier in the day, Trump had nominated Representative Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) for the position of attorney general.
“Throughout the campaign, I believed that if Trump were to win, he would engage in the most egregious actions I could conceive,” Colbert remarked. However it seems, that my creativity is somewhat constrained.
- Trump has also put forward former Representative Tulsi Gabbard as his candidate for the position of director of national intelligence.
Colbert subsequently directed his criticism towards an unexpected individual: not Trump or his associates, but Attorney General Merrick Garland, for not initiating prosecution against Trump in a timelier manner.
“Colbert remarked, “It is indeed a fun fact that today marks Garland’s birthday,” before delivering a playful congratulatory message: “Are you 1? Are you 2? Do you regret not accelerating those Trump trials now, you fool?”
